Charlotte Cox

Athlete and Sports Personality

I am just back from Florence where I represented GB at the ‘Trisomy Games’. The games which started on 15.7.2016 through to 22.7.16 was attended by 36 countries with athletes competing in Athletics, Swimming, Table Tennis, Judo, Gymnastics and Football http://www.trisomegames2016.org

I was really pleased with my performance where I won 5 Gold medals and 1 bronze and set two new world records in the 400m and Triathlon (100m Longjump and Shot Put).

My individual events were
100m 15.7 (Gold)
200m 33 (Gold)
400m 1.17.60 (Gold)
Longjump 2.72 (Gold)
Triathlon 2091 points (Gold)
Shot put 4.17 (Bronze)

I had a great time with my team mates:
Mikael Undrom, Mark Palmer and Michael McKinlay – we ran an awesome relay!

Well today was very interesting, Mum lost her way to Eton, so we arrived just as the starter set off the 200m!

I did the 100m and my time was 15.4, met up with Hettie again who had a really good race.

As we had time on our hands did some Longjump training, and got some really good tuition from Ian Nolan (Peterborough Special Olympics) – thank you Ian.

Lots of practice now for the Trisomy Games in Florence in two weeks time.

I will do my best for you!

Had a really good competition at Chelmsford, and really pleased with my times:

100m = 15.31
200m = 33.5
Longjump 2.47

Need to do some work on my Longjump!

Great to meet up with Hettie, who is great competition.

Really pleased with my times they will be good basis for Florence. Lots more training on Longjump!

I competed for Cambridge and Coleridge at the Southern Women League.

Lovely day out with the group I train with Its the start of the season so I was pleased with my:

100m at 15.9 and 200m at 34.4

I have just returned from South Africa with Team GB, we had a great competition and came 5th overall, but we were thrilled with our medal haul of 5 gold medal and 3 bronze medals.

I was really pleased with all of my events and got a season best performance in all, thrilled to get 5 gold medals in my events
100m, 200m, 400m, Longjump and Triathlon (100m, longjump & 3kg shot)

I was also very proud to be honored with the female performer of the games.

This year has seemed really long as my big competition is not until November when I go with the rest of the GB team to South Africa for the IAADS world Championships.

I am grateful to all my peers who competed at the DSE Regional Championships in May and Mencap Nationals in June, to give me some really good competition in prep for the games. At the DSE I came third to Hollie and Hettie and again in Mencap.

I am now stepping up my training and hope to do my best for club and coach.

I was really pleased to hear that team GB did so well in LA for the Special Olympic and great to hear that St Albans athlete did so well. I was there in spirit watching from the hoarding!

I had a great evening at the Living Sports awards where I was nominated and a finalist for the disabled sports performer of the year.

The award was won by Lauren Steadman who had a great year at the world championships for triathlon – well done Lauren a worthy winner. http://www.livingsport.co.uk/living-sport-sports-awards-winners-announced-2/

I competed for the Eastern region at the National Indoor Championships at Lee Valley, I competed in two events:

60m sprints – winning the “A” stream in a time of 9.54

200m Sprint – I came 4th in the “A” stream in a time of 33, which was quite abit of my PB but I did my best, and on the day the other three girls were faster than me, my friend and training partner from Athens Vicki came second.

Good competition and enjoyed meeting up with lots of old friends.

Went to the Mencap National Championship in Manchester – 28.6.14

Really excited to be running on the same track used in the Commonwealth games. Still recovering from the games in Porto so only did the 100m and 200m and came third.

Pleased with my performance on the back on Porto and now focusing on South Africa in 2015
